Join us for this rare event to receive the reading transmission of Mingyur Rinpoche’s new meditation manual!

January 28, 2025, 8 a.m. EST (New York), 2 p.m. CET (Berlin), 9 p.m. HKT (Hong Kong)

You are warmly invited to attend the live reading transmission (Tib. lung) of Mingyur Rinpoche’s Stainless Prajna: Stages of Meditation on the Treasury of Abhidharma, his new meditation manual based on the ancient wisdom of the Abhidharma. Khenpo Pema Woser will impart the transmission of this text. Please note that this is the last time Tergar International is offering this reading transmission, so be sure to add it to your calendar!

Transmission holds special importance in Vajrayana Buddhism and in Mingyur Rinpoche’s meditative tradition, as it ensures that teachings are passed down from teacher to student in an unbroken lineage, preserving their authenticity. A reading transmission, in particular, allows us to read and study a text having received the blessings of the lineage so that we might come to understand its most profound meaning.

Many texts have been written on the Abhidharma, which is widely studied across different schools of Buddhism. Rinpoche’s Stainless Prajna is unique and perhaps unprecedented because he extracts the practice instructions of this rich philosophical tradition to help bring it to life in our experience. On this rare occasion, we can be among the first to receive this transmission for Stainless Prajna.

This event is part of the Buddhist Psychology: Mind Explained year-long transmission.

During the pandemic, it was really difficult of course. Across the entire world, there were a lot of crises everywhere. I could not travel because we had this lockdown, so I was here at Tergar Osel Ling in Kathmandu. I began to practice, and I read all these ancient texts, and then I read Abhidharma books. Actually, I had not read them in over twenty years. . . . When I looked at the texts again, they became different. Everything became kind of experiential like they were talking to my heart.

The reason why I wrote this is because, especially nowadays, we have a lot of mental turbulence and emotional ups and downs. The whole purpose of this book is to alleviate suffering and [to help people] have lasting happiness.

About Khenpo Pema Woser

Khenpo Pema Woser was born near the border between Tibet and Nepal in a region known as Tsum. After the tragic death of his mother, Khenpo-la left his home in order to study and practice the Dharma and joined Tergar Oseling Monastery, located near the great stupa of Swayambunath. Shortly after, and at the encouragement of Mingyur Rinpoche, his root guru, Khenpo Pema Woser joined the monastic college at Sherab Ling monastery. Since completing his traditional monastic studies and receiving the title of Khenpo in 2010, Khenpo Pema Woser has worked closely with Mingyur Rinpoche to realize his vision at Tergar Osel Ling, primarily teaching logic, debate, and epistemology, and serving in various leadership roles.

In addition to the traditional course of study, Khenpo-la has studied many important practice systems. This includes those described in the Great Five Treasuries by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye as well as numerous commentaries on Mahamudra. These transmission and teachings have come from great masters such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tai Situ Rinpoche, and Mingyur Rinpoche.
