Dear friends and community members,

Many of you have written to ask how you can help following the recent tragedy in Nepal and to check on the safety of Mingyur Rinpoche and the community there.

Fortunately, Rinpoche and the monastic community are safe. But this is a terrible tragedy. Many people have lost their lives, and countless families and communities have been devastated.

We have been in touch with Rinpoche about how we can best help from afar. Rinpoche and the communities in Nepal are offering prayers and practices for everyone affected. They are also mobilizing direct assistance and aid. Rinpoche has encouraged us to help however we can.

Tergar International is donating $10,800 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, and many of us are making personal donations as well. Our contacts on the ground in Nepal believe this is the most direct and accountable way to get help to the people who need it.

This is a moment when we can come together in compassionate action, as Mingyur Rinpoche so often teaches. Each of us can contribute in our own way, whether through prayer and practice, financial support, or other forms of assistance.

Together, we offer our heartfelt wishes for the safety, well-being, and swift recovery of everyone affected by this tragedy.
