Recognizing the Buddha Within
Teachings on the Practice of White Tara
By Mingyur Rinpoche
University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
Please note: Registration is now closed for this event.
The Vajrayana path offers many powerful methods to help us recognize our awakened nature. Development stage practices elicit this recognition by harnessing the power of the imagination. In this style of practice we imagine ourselves to be a fully awakened buddha, surrounded by other enlightened beings and inhabiting a pure realm. This process undermines our habit of seeing ourselves and the world as impure and opens our minds to a vision of the world’s richness and beauty.
In this Path of Liberation retreat Mingyur Rinpoche will teach an important development stage practice based on White Tara, who represents the feminine qualities of the awakened heart. Rinpoche will offer practical instructions and important transmissions for this practice, including advanced nature of mind instructions and guidance on working with the imagination and mantra recitation in meditation practice.
The daily schedule will include teachings from Mingyur Rinpoche and six to eight hours of meditation per day (practiced in twenty to thirty minute sessions). The retreat will also include periods of silence, group discussions, and opportunities to have individual interviews with Senior Tergar Lamas and Instructors.
Prerequisites:
Because these teachings and practices build on each other, deepening our experience and understanding, there are requirements before attending the next level of teachings. Here are the prerequisites for this level of teachings.
