Training the Heart and Mind
Buddhist Wisdom for Daily Life Meditation Workshop
With Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl
Chicago, Illinois, USA
The Tibetan Buddhist practice of Mind Training, known in Tibet as Lojong, is a powerful set of meditations and practical instructions for transforming the heart and mind. The Mind Training lineage contains some of the most-cherished teachings of the Buddhist tradition. The hallmark of this approach is its emphasis on using the ups and downs of daily life as opportunities to open the heart and gain insight into the workings of the mind.
The Mind Training teachings have been passed down from teacher to student for more than a thousand years in Tibet and continue to be widely taught and practiced today. His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other great masters frequently offer instructions from this tradition, extolling the profound simplicity of its teachings and its power to open the heart and transform the mind.
This retreat offers an opportunity to explore the Seven Point Mind Training, one of the most treasured teachings of the Mind Training lineage. Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl will offer practical explanations of the Mind Training practice, as well as guided meditations and discussion.
Both beginning and experienced meditators are welcome to attend.
Note: Cortland will also be offering a public talk on the Science of Mindfulness on Friday evening, October 8. Click here to read more…
