At the heart of everything we do is the desire to experience the happiness and ease that we imagine to be possible. Yet, in our day-to-day experience our mind and our heart seem unreliable and uncooperative. During this weekend workshop, we’ll explore the uplifting and empowering message of the Buddha, that the essential nature of any experience we might have, however difficult or confusing, is a wisdom that is open and compassionately connected to the world. We’ll discover how to use the energy and richness of life, our thoughts and emotions, our hopes and fears, and our work and relationships as the foundation for the journey to awakening. We’ll learn to bring all of life’s experience to path – as the basis for inner peace and equanimity, as a source of radiant compassion, and finally, as brilliant wisdom.
In this weekend workshop with Tergar Instructor Tim Olmsted, we’ll explore this beautiful and profound journey through teaching, discussions, and sessions of meditation.
NOTE: The Friday evening Public Talk will introduce the key practice of meditation through which we can experience a spacious and balanced mind. Such a mind allows us to navigate our lives with the blend of warmth and course that is truly beyond hope and fear. Anyone planning to attend the weekend workshop is asked to take part in the Friday evening session.
This weekend program is open to anyone interested in transforming their heart and experience of the world, experienced meditators and those who are just starting out.
Tim Olmsted has been a student of meditation for more than forty years. For twelve of those years, he lived in Nepal, working as a psychotherapist and studying with many of the greatest Buddhist teachers of our time, including Mingyur Rinpoche’s father, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Tim is the founder, with Mingyur Rinpoche, of The Yongey Foundation. He is also a senior instructor and cofounder of Mingyur Rinpoche’s community, Tergar International. He has also served as the director of Gampo Abbey, the largest Buddhist monastery in North America. Tim is the president of the Pema Chödrön Foundation.
