Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Born in 1975 in the Himalayan border regions between Tibet and Nepal, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche is a much-loved and accomplished Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher. His profound yet accessible teachings and playful sense of humor have endeared him to students around the world. Most uniquely, Rinpoche’s teachings weave together his own personal experiences with modern scientific research, relating both to the practice of meditation. He founded Tergar Meditation Community in 2009.

Cortland Dahl has practiced meditation for twenty-five years and is actively involved in the scientific study of meditation. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, where he was mentored by renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson, and an M.A. in Buddhist Studies from Naropa University. As an author and translator, Cortland has published numerous scientific articles and works on Buddhist philosophy and meditation. He currently serves as Chairman of Tergar International and as a Research Scientist and Chief Contemplative Officer at UW-Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds.

Mary Marsden has extensive management experience, having led rapidly growing enterprises, with responsibility for strategic planning, human resources and risk management, while innovating in marketing and corporate communications. Her interest in yoga and meditation began in High School and expanded greatly during 13 years of practice and teaching Tai Chi and other martial arts. Mary has been involved with Tergar since its inception, joining the Board of Directors in 2011.
Stephanie Chew Grossman
Member, Board of Directors
Stephanie Chew Grossman provides financial advisory services to individuals, small businesses and charities. She has a BA in Psychology from Stanford University and an MBA degree in Finance from the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota. Stephanie has served on many non-profit and for-profit boards, including the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Planned Parenthood, Capella University, Perspectives, Rime Foundation, and on the Board of Tergar International since 2009.

Daniel Pennie is a general partner with Bluestem Holding, a private investment company. A corporate attorney with extensive international experience, he has worked with clients in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Dan’s meditation practice began in 1997 when he was introduced to the Rigpa organization through The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. He has been involved with Tergar since Mingyur Rinpoche spoke in Minnesota in 2008, and has served on the Board of Directors since 2009.
Isboset Josafat Amador Arteta
Member, Board of Directors, and Chief Technology Officer
Isboset (Set) Amador has been a student of Mingyur Rinpoche since 2006 and is a co-founder of Tergar Puebla (Mexico). As Chief Technology Officer for Tergar International, he oversees the Technology and Innovation Team and is responsible for the development and maintenance of Tergar’s key systems and services. Set is an electronic engineer and holds an MBA as well as a master’s degree in project management. Set joined the Board of Directors in 2015 and is also a Facilitator for Tergar International.

Antonia Sumbundu has been a student of Mingyur Rinpoche since 2002. She is a psychologist and psychotherapist with a master’s degree in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) from Oxford University. Antonia began her career as a clinical psychologist and later went into private practice in her home country of Denmark. Her work focuses on the clinical application of meditation, which she has been teaching internationally since 2004. She is currently an instructor for Tergar International as also works as Senior Associate Trainer for Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
