The Awakened Heart
A Daylong Retreat on the Key Points of Buddhist Practice
With Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl
Madison, Wisconsin, USA
The path of awakening leads to a calm, clear mind and a heart that is open and dedicated to the well-being of others. Buddhism teaches that awareness, compassion, and wisdom – the hallmarks of awakening – are innate qualities that we all possess. On the path of awakening we learn to recognize these qualities, to nurture them, and to bring them into our lives and relationships. One of the most powerful ways get in touch with these qualities is through the practice of meditation.
In this daylong retreat, we will explore the key points of Buddhist meditation by learning about The Supplication to the Dakpo Kagyu. This elegant prayer has been passed down for generations in the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and is often chanted as a daily meditation practice to remind oneself of the most vital points of meditation practice. Our day will be led by Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl and will include teachings on Buddhist practice, periods of meditation, and opportunities for discussion.
This retreat is open to anyone who is interested or actively practicing Buddhist meditation.
