The Buddhist path is rooted in the understanding that awakening is not a goal to be achieved, but an immanent reality that we can recognize in the present moment. There are many practical tools that we can use on the path of awakening, including profound contemplations, simple exercises to explore the nature of awareness, and meditations that employ the imagination to put us in touch with a sense of contentment and equanimity that does not depend on the circumstances of our lives.
In 2010, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche composed a short practice called The Nectar of the Path to distill these essential elements of Buddhist meditation practice. It includes verses on the four thoughts — the precious human life, impermanence, karma, and suffering — as well as on refuge, bodhichitta, guru yoga, and nature of mind meditation.
In this retreat, we will learn about the fundamentals of Buddhist practice from Mingyur Rinpoche. Explaining The Nectar of the Path, he will give step-by-step instructions on important points related to the practice of meditation.
The retreat will include periods of guided meditation, discussion, and teachings. There are no prerequisites for this event. All are welcome to attend.
