Awareness is the Essence of Meditation – A Public Talk
With Senior Tergar Instructor Edwin Kelley
Tergar Minneapolis / St. Paul
Everyone wants to be happy, but unfortunately we spend much of our time looking for happiness outside of our own being. From a Buddhist perspective we are already endowed with true happiness, it is innate, inherent. It can only be found within our own heart and mind. Therefore, seeking happiness in objects or experiences that are dependent on external conditions can only lead to dissatisfaction. In order to recognize our own inherent true happiness, we must first begin by cultivating awareness. This is the essence of meditation.
These evenings include a period of meditation, a time to share informally with the community, a short talk by the instructor and a period of open discussion on how we are working with these aspects of our lives. The evening is open to all, beginners and experienced meditators alike, and is a great opportunity for us to delve deeper as a community into the richness of bringing meditation into our everyday lives.
