A Boundless Heart
Connecting to the World Through the Four Immeasurables
A Weekend Workshop with Tergar Instructor Tim Olmsted
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
In a world that can feel increasingly challenging, it is completely natural for us to seek the peace and happiness that we all sense we’re missing. The more we search, the more we realize that everyone is seeking the same and that, in fact, our happiness and our very life is intimately connected with the lives and happiness of all others. For centuries, this insight has been explored and enriched through the application of the “four immeasurable attitudes” of loving kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Through training in such a boundless heart and mind, we can discover our own innate happiness, and find richness and meaning in our connection to others and the world altogether.
In this weekend workshop with Tergar Instructor Tim Olmsted, we’ll explore this beautiful and profound journey through teaching, discussions, and sessions of meditation. This weekend program is open to anyone interested in transforming their heart and experience of the world, experienced meditators and those who are just starting out.
Tim Olmsted has been a student of meditation for the past 40 years. For twelve of those years, Tim lived in Nepal and worked as a psychotherapist. There he studied with many of the greatest Buddhist teachers of our time, including Mingyur Rinpoche’s father, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. After returning from Nepal, Tim founded the Yongey Foundation to support Mingyur Rinpoche’s activities in Asia. Tim served as director of Gampo Abbey, a monastery in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He is the founder and president of the Pema Chödrön Foundation.

Pay-What-You-Can
Tergar Minneapolis/St. Paul is serious about making our meditation programs accessible to all. We are currently trying a pay-what-you-can registration approach to ensure that anyone who wants to participate is able to do so. You are invited to register at the base rate, a reduced rate, or without a cash payment. If comfortable, you may also consider registering above the base-fee in order to help support the desire to make these teachings as widely accessible as possible. Since Tergar is a registered non-profit, any amount you pay over the suggested level will be tax-deductible as applicable under current law.
If you need to pay a different amount than our options allow, feel free to select the option “I will pay what I can at the door” and bring any payment amount to the event if you’re able.
For your convenience, here are the preset options:
- $270
- $225
- $185
- $135 – base rate
