Joy of Living Meditation Groups

Phoenix

Tergar Meditation Group

Our meditation practice groups meet every Saturday from 9:30am to 11:00am, and every Thursday from 6:45pm to 8:15pm. These sessions are free and open to anyone who wishes to learn more about the practice of meditation, regardless of faith, culture, and background. Both sessions are facilitated by Tergar facilitators and are based on Mingyur Rinpoche's Joy of Living study program, which combines guided meditations with group discussions, drawing upon Rinpoche's books Joy of Living and Joyful Wisdom. The meditation environment in these groups is simple, homey and un-intimidating.

Whether you are new to meditation and would like to learn more, or are a seasoned practitioner and would like to deepen your practice, please join us as we explore together the practice of mindfulness here in the Valley of the Sun! For more information, please contact Gloria Rico at (480) 557-9934, or gloria@tergar.org.

Meditation sessions are led by Lama Trinley, our resident teacher. During our practices, Lama guides us through various meditation techniques, shows DVD teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche, and hosts open discussions on meditation.

The Path of Liberation Practice Group for Chinese students meets on alternate Sundays from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Please see calendar below for exact dates. With the leadership of Lama Trinley, this group practices meditation and hosts discussions about Buddhism. This group is open to those who have attended Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's Mahamudra I & II seminars.

The Path of Liberation Practice Group for English speakers meets every Monday evening from 6:30 to 9:00pm. Guided by Lama Trinley, this group practices meditation and hosts discussions on the principles of Buddhism. It is open to those who have attended Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's Mahamudra I & II seminars, or Path of Liberation I & II retreats. For more information, please contact Maryanne Kremer-Ames at (480) 334-2297 or send an email to maryanne@tergar.org.

Path of Liberation Meditation Group

Our Path of Liberation practice and study group is open to anyone who has attended Mingyur Rinpoche's Mahamudra or Path of Liberation retreats, as well as those who have had prior Mahamudra instruction and have finished, or are presently practicing, the preliminary practices (ngondro). This group meets every Sunday from 9:00am to Noon. With the leadership of our resident teacher, Lama Trinley, or a Tergar facilitator, the Path of Liberation group practices guided meditations on Mahamudra and other topics using Mingyur Rinpoche's Path of Liberation curriculum. Sessions are structured to accommodate and support all levels of this curriculum, with chants and recitations in Tibetan, followed in Chinese and English according to student's language preference. In the afternoon, Chinese community members host a Buddhism study group from 1:30pm - 3:00pm. For more information, please contact Maryanne Kremer-Ames at (480) 334-2297 or send an email to maryanne@tergar.org.
