Under the guidance of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, the Tergar Meditation Center of Phoenix welcomes all to join its community and share in the cultivation of a joyful body, spirit, and mind! We currently offer meditation sessions in our South Phoenix facility, in addition to hosting visits by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and Tergar Instructors for periodic retreats, workshops and seminars on meditation and on the fundamentals of Buddhist practice.
Our meditation center is located at:
1108 E. Hidalgo Ave
Phoenix, Arizona 85040
May 18-20, 2012 ~ Phoenix, Arizona
Tergar Phoenix holds regular meditation groups for both the Joy of Living and Path of Liberation programs, including sessions that are open to anyone with an interest in learning more about the practice of meditation.
We have two Joy of Living meditation practice groups:
The sessions are free and open to anyone who wishes to learn more about the practice of meditation, regardless of faith, culture, and background. Sessions are facilitated by Tergar Practice Leaders and are based on Mingyur Rinpoche’s Joy of Living curriculum, which combines guided meditations with group discussions, drawing upon Rinpoche’s books The Joy of Living and Joyful Wisdom. The meditation environment in these groups is simple, homey and unintimidating.
Whether you are new to meditation and would like to learn more, or are a seasoned practitioner and would like to deepen your practice, please join us as we explore together the practice of mindfulness here in the Valley of the Sun!
Our Path of Liberation practice and study group is open to anyone who has attended Mingyur Rinpoche’s Mahamudra or Path of Liberation retreats, as well as those who have had prior Mahamudra instruction and have finished, or are presently practicing, the preliminary practices (Ngöndro).
This group meets every Sunday from 9am to noon.
With the leadership of our resident teacher, Lama Trinley, or a Tergar Practice Leader, the group practices guided meditations on Mahamudra and other topics following Mingyur Rinpoche’s Path of Liberation curriculum.
Sessions are structured to accommodate and support all levels of this curriculum, with chants and recitations in Tibetan, followed in Chinese or English depending on a student’s language preference.
Joy of Living Mini-Retreats are meant to provide continuing support to those who have participated in Joy of Living Meditation Workshops. Sessions are three hours long and include DVD teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche, guided meditations, and group discussions. These sessions feature important additional teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche not presented in Meditation Workshops. They are considered a continuation and an essential element of the Joy of Living Program.
Please note that Mini-Retreats build on the teachings presented in Meditation Workshops and, as such, are open only to those who have attended the corresponding level of Joy of Living Workshop. A Level I Mini-Retreat, for example, may be attended by those who have attended a Joy of Living Level I Meditation Workshop.
For more information on our practices and for current Mini-Retreat level and topic, please contact Maryanne Kremer-Ames at (480) 334-2297 or send an email to lyramusic@earthlink.net.
The Tergar Meditation Community of Phoenix is unique in the United States in having its own physical Center where meditation practitioners, following the Tergar path, can come together to meet, practice, discuss and share in a comfortable and cordial environment. It is also the home base of our resident Lama Trinley. It truly provides a center for all who wish to come together with the Tergar Community in Phoenix.
Having a Center brings the obligation and need of financial support to ensure its ongoing viability, and we look to our community to help provide this through our Membership Program. We respectfully ask for your consideration to join the program. Please click here for more information on the program and here to access the Membership Form.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Mike Daley at (623) 374-7332 or mdaley8@cox.net.
