Intro to Meditation

"Meditation is really quite simple. All we have to do is embrace each experience with awareness and open our hearts fully to the present moment. When we are completely at ease with our own being, the ripples of awareness naturally spread out in all directions, touching the lives of everyone we meet."
— Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Free Intro to Meditation Classes
Interested in meditation but not sure where to begin? Please join us for a short introduction to meditation, where we will learn some simple practices that will awaken us to the joy of the present moment. This free, single session is held on the second Wednesday each month.

Is this class for me?
If you want to learn more about meditation, then this class is for you. You don't have to be Buddhist to meditate. You don't even have to be religious. All you need is a sincere desire to open your heart and mind to the present moment.

If you're new to meditation, this class is a great way to get a sense of what meditation is all about. If you've practiced other forms of meditation or contemplation, this will give you a taste of the relaxed, spacious approach to meditation practiced in the Tergar community.

What will we learn?
In this single class, we will learn how meditation can transform all aspects of our experience into sources of joy. In particular, we will practice resting the mind in a state of relaxed, alert attention (a practice known as "resting in open awareness") and also how we can use sounds as supports for meditative awareness.

When and where is it held?
This free introductory class is held from 7pm to 8:30 on the second Wednesday of every month at the Tergar Meditation Center, which is located in the warehouse district of downtown Minneapolis. Each class is a stand-alone session.

Here are the details:
When: Second Wednesday of each month
