The Mind’s Infinite Potential:
Teachings on the Heart Sutra
With Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl
Madison, Wisconsin, USA
The mind’s potential to change and adapt is limitless, yet all too often we relate to our sense of self as something fixed and incapable of lasting change. In Buddhist meditation, we learn to tap into our innate capacity for transformation by exploring the mind and seeing firsthand how our beliefs and attitudes shape our experience of the world. This journey puts us in touch with a source of equanimity and creativity that is not subject to the changing circumstance of our lives.
For centuries, the Heart Sutra has been treasured as a masterpiece of the world’s spiritual literature. This short Buddhist text presents the radical principle of emptiness – the understanding that nothing exists independent of everything else. In this four week series, Senior Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl will lead an exploration of the Heart Sutra, showing how its profound teachings can help us to realize the mind’s infinite potential and to let go of beliefs and attitudes that keep us stuck in old patterns and habits.
Each class will include teachings from Cortland, guided meditations, and short periods of discussion. This class is suitable for anyone with an interest in the Buddhist path of meditation.
