The central understanding of the Buddhist tradition is that suffering and dissatisfaction are not inherent aspects of the human condition. Based on his own direct experience in meditation, the Buddha taught that we can directly experience our own awakened nature by training in awareness, compassion, and insight. The Four Noble Truths contain the essence of these teachings, showing how we can find inner freedom by gaining insight into habits that keep us trapped in cycles of suffering, and also by discovering the innate purity of awareness itself.
In this retreat, we will explore the Four Noble Truths and their relevance for the path of awakening. Senior Tergar Instructor Myoshin Kelley will share her own experience with these teachings, discussing how the Buddha’s insights are as relevant today as they were 2,500 years ago. The presentation will also include short video teachings on the Four Noble Truths by Mingyur Rinpoche, as well as guided meditations and periods of discussion.
